The Essentials Of Event Planning

Every day in Lagos people gather together for different reasons. ( professional or promotion ceremonies) Others are more of a personal nature or more social like a celebration of a child's graduation or a reunion between old friends.

Regardless of the reason there is one tie that binds them all together. The day of the event things will appear as the organizer(s) and planner(s) want them too. What guests may or may not know prior to the day of the event is just how much work went into planning the perfect gathering.

Organization

As with any large scale project, organization is crucial when planning a gathering of any size. Whether you are getting together with a friend over dinner or celebrating a wedding, you need to be organized! Not only will organization help you lay out the timeline of events that leads up to the big day, but it will also help you quickly understand if you need help.

When planning an event do not be afraid to call in favors as you need to. Knowing someone with connections to certain items will save you the time of scrambling to find those items. Those connections may also end up saving you money that can be put towards something else.

Know the Reason for the Event

While your guests may not necessarily need a reason to get together, you will need to know the reason for the event. This is important as it will lay the foundation for the entire day.

Planning a professional event can cover a variety of different celebrations. For instance, you may be chosen to lead the committee in charge of your company’s anniversary celebration. Prior to gathering with the rest of your team, if you have one, you will need to find out if the event will be open to the public or not. You may even be asked to plan two events, one that is open to the public and one just for the company.

Gatherings with personal overtones may be held to mark any major life event. For instance, if you have a college graduate looking to graduate this winter, now is not too early to plan their party. While these parties may seem small in nature there are many details that will need to be taken into consideration to make sure the celebration is as grand as the graduate wants.

Location

As the saying goes… location, location, location. Once you know the reason the event will be held, the next step in the process is to find the perfect location  to host it. When searching for locations, keep a budget in mind. You will also want to have a rough guestimate of how many will be in attendance, including children under 21 if any are expected. Do not settle for the first place you see. Call around and compare prices and amenities available to you.

Seating

Everyone, including you, is going to need a place to sit to talk and eat. Renting  banquet tables will allow you to provide ample room for your guests. These tables come in various styles that will work with any location.

Planning a gathering will take time and work. However, in the end, a good time will be had by all!
